This glossary gives you simple explanations of the common words and terms you will see while using the VirtualX platform. If you don’t understand a word in your course or dashboard, check here first!

Term What It Means
Assignment A task or project your teacher gives you to complete and submit online.
Badge A digital reward you get for completing a task, like finishing a unit or scoring high on a quiz.
Certificate A downloadable document you earn after completing a course. It shows your achievement.
Comment Box A place at the bottom of a lesson or task where you can ask a question or leave feedback.
Course A full subject or topic (like Grade 8 Maths) that includes units, quizzes, and assignments.
Curriculum The full list of lessons and activities inside a course. It shows what you will learn.
Dashboard Your personal homepage on VirtualX. It shows your progress, courses, badges, and notifications.
Download Saving a file (like a PDF or image) from the platform onto your phone, tablet, or computer.
Feedback Comments or advice your teacher gives after checking your quiz or assignment.
Lesson / Unit A single learning activity inside a course, like a video or reading section.
Mark as Complete A button you click when you finish a lesson, so the system knows you’re done.
Message A private way to contact your teacher on the platform.
Notification An alert that tells you about new messages, deadlines, marks, or course updates.
Progress Bar A visual line that shows how much of your course you’ve completed (e.g. 60%).
Quiz A short test or activity to check what you’ve learned, often made of multiple choice or written questions.
Resubmit Uploading a new version of your assignment if your teacher allows you to try again.
Retake Doing a quiz a second (or third) time to improve your mark.
Review Writing a short opinion about a course (e.g. what you liked or what can improve).
Save Keeping your work safe on the platform before you submit it.
Submit Sending your final work to your teacher, so it can be marked.
Support Help you get from your teacher, school, or the Help Centre when you have a problem.
VirtualX The name of your online learning platform—it helps you learn using lessons, videos, and interactive tasks.
