4.1 Adding/Removing Students (Front-End Admin Tab)
Once your course is published, the next important step is managing your learners. On VirtualX, this means adding students to your course or removing them if needed—all done from the front-end using the Admin tab inside your course.
No backend access is required. You do everything from your dashboard or Member’s Area.
👩🏽🏫 Why This Matters
- Learners cannot start the course until they are enrolled
- Sometimes students change subjects, switch classes, or need to be added late
- You may need to clean up a course list by removing inactive users
🛠️ How to Add Students to a Course (Manual Enrolment)
- Log into your VirtualX account.
- Go to your Dashboard → Click on “Courses” or “My Courses”
- Click on the course where you want to add learners.
- Inside the course, click the “Admin” tab at the top (front-end only).
- Look for the section that says “Add Students”.
- In the search box:
- Type the learner’s name, username, or email address.
- Click on the correct user from the dropdown list.
- Click “Add to Course”.
✅ The student will now appear in your enrolled list and will receive a notification.
👥 How to Add Students in Bulk (CSV Upload – Admin Support)
If you’re enrolling an entire class:
- Ask your school administrator to upload students via CSV file.
- You may provide them with:
- Learner full names
- Emails/usernames
- Target course
📌 Only administrators can upload CSV files. Teachers can add students one by one from the front end.
❌ How to Remove a Student
- Go to the Admin tab of your course.
- Find the learner in the “Enrolled Students” list.
- Click the delete (bin/trash) icon next to their name.
- Confirm removal.
⚠️ Once removed, the learner will no longer see the course or its content.
🧑🏽🏫 Example in Action:
Mr. Khuzwayo adds 10 learners to his Grade 10 Geography course manually using their email addresses. Later, one learner switches to another subject—he simply goes to the Admin tab and removes the learner from the course in 3 clicks.
🔄 Tips for Smooth Student Management
| Action | Tip |
| Adding learners manually | Ideal for late joiners or special cases |
| Bulk adding | Use admin help with a class list in Excel/CSV |
| Removing learners | Do it immediately if someone changes class or subject |
| Can’t find a student? | Confirm their username/email with your school admin |
✅ You’re in Control of Your Classroom
Now that your learners are added, they can begin the course, submit work, and participate in quizzes and announcements—all inside your course.
4.2 Viewing Student Progress
Once your learners are enrolled and have started working through your course, you’ll want to keep an eye on how they’re doing. On VirtualX, you can track each learner’s progress in real time—from how many units they’ve completed to how they’ve performed in quizzes and assignments.
You can view this directly from the front end, without needing any backend or admin access.

4.3 Answering Student Questions
In a normal classroom, learners raise their hands to ask questions. On VirtualX, learners can also ask questions as they move through your course—and you can reply from the front end without needing any special tools or access to the backend.
This section shows you how to view and answer learner questions from within your course or profile dashboard.
💬 Where Do Questions Come From?
Learners can ask questions:
- Inside a unit or lesson
- Below a quiz or assignment
- From the course page discussion area
Their question will appear for you (the teacher) to answer. These are visible only to the learner and you—unless it’s set as a public question.
🛠️ Steps: How to View and Answer Questions
- Login to your VirtualX profile.
- Go to your Dashboard > Courses.
- Click on the relevant course.
- From the course menu, select “Questions”, “Q&A”, or look inside each unit where questions were asked.
- You’ll see a list of learner questions.
To answer:
- Click on a question
- Type your response in the reply box
- Click “Submit” or “Post Answer”
💡 Learners will get a notification once you’ve answered their question.
👀 Where Can You Also See Questions?
- Under the Admin Tab → “Student Activity” section
- From your Messages if learners asked questions directly
- Inside specific units or assignments
🔒 Are These Questions Private?
- By default, questions are private between teacher and learner
- If the learner chooses to mark it as public, other students in the course may also see the question and answer—this helps reduce repeat queries
🧑🏽🏫 Example in Action:
Mr. Mhlongo, teaching Grade 9 Technology, receives 3 questions under Unit 2: Energy Systems. One learner asks about a diagram, another is stuck on an activity. He opens the “Q&A” tab, types out short responses, and links one answer to a YouTube explainer video. Within minutes, learners are back on track.
🧠 Best Practices for Responding to Questions
| Tip | Why It Helps |
| Respond within 24 hours | Keeps learners engaged and on track |
| Use voice notes or links (if allowed) | Some learners learn better with visual/audio support |
| Encourage peer questions | Builds confidence and curiosity |
| Keep responses short and focused | Avoid long explanations that might confuse learners |
✅ Summary
VirtualX makes it easy for you to keep communication open—just like in a real classroom. Answering questions quickly shows your learners that you’re present, engaged, and ready to help them succeed.

On VirtualX, learners have the option to leave feedback or ratings after they complete a course. This is a helpful tool for you as a teacher—it gives insight into what learners enjoyed, what they struggled with, and where you might improve or update your lessons.
Reviewing this feedback and responding (when needed) shows learners that you care and are always trying to improve the learning experience.
💬 What is Course Feedback?
Course feedback can include:

- Click “Post Reply”
💬 Your reply will be visible under the learner’s review.
🧑🏽🏫 Example in Action:
Mr. Sibiya reviews feedback on his Grade 9 History course. One learner writes:
