  • 🧠 Quiz scores and pass/fail rates
  • 📘 Unit and lesson progress
  • ⏱ Time spent on each section
  • 📝 Assignment status (submitted, marked, pending)
  • 🏆 Certificates or badges earned

📌 This information updates in real-time and is linked directly to learner activity.

🛠️ Steps: How to View Student Statistics

  1. Login to your VirtualX account.
  2. Go to Dashboard > My Courses.
  3. Select the course you want to check.

9.2 Course Completion Data

Once your learners have been working through your course, it’s important to check who has fully completed the course and who is still behind. VirtualX gives you real-time course completion data—directly from the front-end—so you can keep your teaching on track and your learners accountable.

This section helps you:

  • Monitor who’s finished the full course
  • See who’s stuck or falling behind
  • Track overall class progress
  • Award certificates to those who qualify

📘 What Does “Course Completion” Mean?

A learner is marked as “Course Completed” when they:

  1. Open and complete all required units/lessons
  2. Pass all required quizzes or assignments
  3. Reach the set passing mark (if one is applied)
  4. Fulfil the course duration or access conditions

✅ Once completed, VirtualX can automatically award certificates if this option was enabled.

🛠️ Steps: How to View Course Completion Data

  1. Login to your VirtualX teacher profile.
  2. Go to Dashboard > My Courses.
  3. Select the course you want to track.
  4. Click the “Admin” tab.
  5. Look for the section labelled “Students”, “Progress”, or “Course Completion Report”.
  6. You’ll see:
    • A list of all enrolled learners
    • Their completion status (e.g. “Completed”, “In Progress”)
    • Completion percentage (e.g. 75%, 100%)
    • Completion date (if done)

✅ You can sort this list by status or percentage to quickly see who needs support.

📋 Sample Course Completion View

🧑🏽‍🏫 Example in Action:

Ms. Moagi, teaching Grade 10 Life Sciences, sees that 18 out of 25 learners have completed the course. She posts a bulk reminder to the rest. The next day, 4 more learners reach 100% and automatically receive their certificates. The remaining 3 are followed up individually.

📌 What You Can Do with Completion Data

Action Outcome
Message learners who are behind Nudge them to catch up
Award manual certificates If you’ve verified completion outside the system
Report progress to parents or principals Share real performance
Adjust lesson plan pacing If most learners are struggling

💡 Tips for Better Completion Management

Tip Why It Helps
Set clear completion rules (in course settings) Makes expectations clear for learners
Use announcements to push final unit reminders Boosts completion rates
Celebrate top finishers publicly Motivates others
Monitor progress weekly Helps you act early before deadlines pass

✅ Summary

Course completion data is more than a number—it’s a clear picture of your class’s engagement and learning progress. With this insight, you can guide, celebrate, and support every learner—all from the front end of VirtualX.

9.3 Activity Logs & Filtering

VirtualX gives you access to Activity Logs, which let you see what each learner is doing—or not doing—inside your course. These logs show detailed information like:

  • When a learner logged in
  • Which unit they viewed
  • Which quiz they attempted
  • What time they submitted work
  • How often they’re engaging

This helps you track real engagement—not just marks. You can also filter the activity logs to focus on specific students, dates, or actions.

📚 What Are Activity Logs?

Activity Logs are a timeline of events that show how learners are interacting with your course. Every click, quiz attempt, assignment upload, and completion is recorded automatically.

🧠 It’s like a class register—but smarter and digital.

🛠️ Steps: How to Access Activity Logs

  1. Login to your VirtualX account.
  2. Go to Dashboard > My Courses.
  3. Click on the course you want to review.
  4. Open the “Admin” tab.
  5. Look for “Activity Logs” or “User Activity”.
  6. You will see a timeline or table that includes:
    • Learner name
    • Activity type (e.g. started a quiz, viewed a unit)
    • Date and time
    • Progress change (e.g. moved from 40% to 50%)

🧭 Filtering the Activity Logs

To narrow your view:

  • Use the search bar to type a learner’s name
  • Use filters to select:
    • Specific date ranges (e.g. this week, last 7 days)
    • Specific activities (e.g. quiz submissions, login events)
    • Completion status (e.g. incomplete lessons)

✅ This helps you focus only on the information that matters right now.

🧑🏽‍🏫 Example in Action:

Mr. Tshabalala wants to know why 5 learners failed their last quiz. He opens the activity log and sees that they skipped Unit 4 entirely. He messages them to revise that section before the next quiz. The following week, they all improve.

📌 Common Actions Logged

Activity Type Description
Logged in Learner accessed their account
Viewed unit Learner opened a lesson
Started quiz Learner clicked “Begin Quiz”
Completed quiz Learner submitted responses
Submitted assignment Learner uploaded their work
Earned certificate Learner completed the course

💡 Tips for Using Activity Logs

Tip Why It Helps
Check weekly Stay ahead of learner issues
Focus on inactive users Identify who needs support or follow-up
Combine with quiz scores Understand if poor marks are due to lack of study
Use filters to save time Quickly access useful data during busy terms

✅ Summary

Activity Logs give you a behind-the-scenes view of learner engagement. With just a few clicks, you can filter, track, and act on real-time learner behaviour—keeping your class focused and your teaching effective.

9.4 Exporting Reports for Offline Use
